Tape Ball Cricket Tournament – Rules & Regulations
1. Tournament Format:
- A total of 10 teams will participate.
- Teams are divided into 2 groups, each containing 5 teams.
- The tournament will begin with a group stage, followed by Semis and Final.
2. Match Format
- Group Stage & Semi Finals: Each match consists of 7 overs per innings.
- Final: Match consists of 8 overs per innings.
- Only one bowler is allowed to bowl two overs in each match.
3. Team Composition
- Each team must consist of 11 players.
- Teams are required to submit a final player list before the start of every match.
- Substitution of players during the tournament / match is not allowed, except in cases of injury with approval from the organizing committee.
4. Equipment Regulations
- Only tape balls are to be used. No hard balls or any other variant is permitted.
- Fibre bats are strictly prohibited. Only regular wooden bats are allowed.
- Umpires and organizers reserve the right to inspect equipment before or during the match.
5. Match Timing & Walkover Rules
- Teams must report to the ground at least 20 minutes before the scheduled match time.
- If a team fails to report or is not ready to play within 10 minutes after the scheduled start, a walkover will be declared.
- In case of a walkover, the present team will be awarded full match points (equivalent to a win).
- If both team fails to report on scheduled time, match will be declared as abandoned and no points will be rewarded.
- At least 9 players must be present for the match to commence.
6. Points System (Group Stage)
- Win: 2 points
- Loss: 0 points
- Walkover (received): 2 points
- Walkover (given): 0 points
- Tie/No Result: 1 point (only if applicable under weather or external conditions).
- Super Over will be placed in case of Tie in Knockout matches. (semis & Final).
7. Code of Conduct
- Players must respect umpires, opponents, and officials at all times.
- Any form of abuse, argument with umpires, or unsportsmanlike behavior will result in disciplinary action, which may include match suspension or disqualification.
- Teams are responsible for the behavior of their players and supporters.
8. Umpiring & Decision-Making
- All umpire decisions are final and binding.
- There will be no review system.
- Any disputes should be brought to the attention of the organizing committee after the match.
9. Tiebreaker Rules (Group Stage)
If two or more teams have equal points, the following criteria will be used:
- Net Run Rate (NRR)
- Head-to-head result
- Most wins
- Super Over, if all else is equal
10. General
- The organizing committee reserves the right to modify rules if required due to unforeseen circumstances.
- All teams will be notified of any changes in advance.
